For a long time, Toyota has just been willingly sitting on their hands. Sure, they had their electric hey-day with the Toyota Prius. But since then, the way they have been trying to compete with the EV (electric vehicle) boom lately has just seemed… Sub-par. It almost makes you wonder if Toyota has really been putting their all into making electric vehicles hum with a purpose in the first place. Well, that all might change today, as the X Prologue nears it’s existence with a mysterious image.

What is the X Prologue?

We don’t quite know. A car? Truth be told, Toyota has kept their plans for the X Prologue well under-wraps. So to assume what it is right now, so early in the game, is tough to say. Likely, the vehicle is the beginning of Toyota’s grand entry into the EV universe. But very unassumptious-like. Similar to how no one was that surprised to see RDJ cast as Iron Man. Toyota does make major mention of two electric cars arriving to the United States this year but what could they be?

And is X Prologue even a concept or a vehicle meant for production? There should be more details soon enough after the unveiling.

Originally Toyota had no mention of the X Prologue by name. Just of three, actually, new electrified models. Two of them being BEVs and one of them being a PHEV. The Automaker was still very vague about the status of those electric vehicles and yet they were talking a lot about an all-electric SUV as of recent.

Toyota has also mentioned before that plug-in hybrids are likely to have similar impacts on the environment to all-electric vehicles. This is all very interesting news, considering that the CEO of Toyota, Akio Toyoda, believed that it isn’t great to push for mass-electrification.
