Ann Arbor, MI – The NexGen Toyota 86 is seen in a video test driving around the city. This leaves us to believe that the new Toyota is ready to hit the market.

The Toyota 86 has a history unlike many other of its respected industry. For starters is was the first rear-wheel-drive sports car that Toyota put out. It wasn’t anything special, but it gave the world an idea as to what the company could do.

Today, the original 86 goes for a high-cost. It still doesn’t live up to modern sports cars, but the charm and history makes it appealing to European markets.

The car didn’t live for very long. Until its resurgence in 2012, the car was left to time. When the first release since its inception was revealed, the community went nuts. The car has since been in production and the new one is ready for buyers.

The NexGen 86 Is Mean

The new version will have multiple options. The new generation will have a turbo-charged 2.4 liter flat-four engine. This will be good for around 260 horsepower.

Other than that, the specs are being kept relatively out-of-site until release.

With major releases coming in for 2021, the future of the sports car market looks good. The year is going to see a lot of new firsts. For many companies, launching their fully-electric cars will be the largest. Well, Toyota is already on that and has been. Now they are working the sports car market with success.

The 86 has a lot to compete with in terms of limelight. While the focus may be strong for the electric car market, the small-engine sports cars are also picking up steam. Instead of massive V8 muscle cars, the world is, once again, focusing on fuel economy, longevity and affordability.
